Will my dog ever use his leg again?

So my dog tigger who is not yet a year old got hit by a car about 5 weeks ago. We took him to the vet and found out his back femur was broken and would need surgery. It's been 5 weeks almost and he's still not walking on it. He can move it and use it to scratch behind his ear but will he ever walk or stand on it agin? And is there anything I can do at home to help him?
